Dehydration: Your Body's
Cry For Help
It is a known fact that a person can live
without food for a month, but only a matter of days without
water. Every function of your body depends on water. A few
examples being regulating body temperature, helps eliminate
toxins
from the body and lubricates your joints and keeps vital
membranes moist and functioning.
Dehydration is a serious problem that can lead to death in a
matter of days. It is an insidious condition with symptoms
that creep up on you without your being fully
aware of the cause. You can be starting to become dehydrated
even before you feel thirsty. Just a drop of 2% in your body
water can trigger fuzzy short term memory, trouble with
basic math and difficulty focusing on a printed page or a
computer screen.
If you allow yourself to get dehydrated every part of your
body suffers. Research has shown that dehydration has been
linked to asthma, allergies, constipation, digestive
problems hypertension , headaches, poor muscle tone and
organ dysfunction. Here are the 3 stages of dehydration.
· Beginning: Warning signs of dehydration include mental
confusion, pain in joints and stomach and low energy.
· As dehydration increases, symptoms develop. Some examples
are thirst, sunken eyes, restless or irritable behavior and
the absence of tears. More obvious signs are flushed face,
dry or warm skin, strong smelling, dark yellow colored
urine, dizziness weakness and headaches.
As dehydration becomes worse more signs are visible. Blood
pressure, fainting, convulsions, bloated stomach, fast weak
pulse, flabby skin and finally heart failure.
Research has shown us that drinking as little as 8-10
glasses of water a day can significantly ease back and joint
pain in up to 80% of people. When you are properly hydrated,
you will experience an energy boost and be able
to eat less.
Water can help in good and effective dieting. If you drink
enough water and your body is satisfied, you will eat less
and loose weight naturally. Ice-cold water is the most
effective way to consume water.
Water has a critical effect on our health and we owe it to
ourselves to keep a close watch on our bodies. When it is
hot and our body temperatures rise it is extremely important
to check on ourselves and make sure we drink enough and do
not experience these life threatening symptoms.
Not only must we make sure we drink enough water but must
also ensure that it is good quality It is pointless to be
drinking enough water but not pay attention to its quality.
Contaminated water can also deteriorate your health and
cause serious harm to your organs and normal body functions.
Be extra careful to use water that does not have chemical
contaminants and harmful bacteria in it. Remember your body
is indeed what you eat and drink.
Take care of your body and your body will take care of you.
Listen to your body when it cries out for help, a little
action can prevent serious problems and even save your life
